Rather than following a guided tutorial, participants are placed into a pre-configured environment where policies have been intentionally misconfigured, omitted, or implemented incorrectly.
Working through a series of increasingly complex scenarios, delegates investigate policy violations, interpret business and security requirements, and edit Rego policies directly within Visual Studio Code. Each challenge mirrors realistic enterprise use cases, such as access control, compliance enforcement, infrastructure governance, application deployment standards, and security guardrails.
As delegates progress, they test and validate their policy changes against the environment, receiving immediate feedback on the effectiveness of their solutions. Success requires a combination of logical problem-solving, policy design, debugging skills, and an understanding of how policy-as-code supports modern DevOps and platform engineering practices.
By completing the lab, participants will gain confidence in reading, writing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Rego policies while experiencing how OPA can be used to enforce governance and security requirements consistently across cloud-native and enterprise environments. The result is a practical understanding of policy-as-code that can be applied directly to real-world operational and compliance challenges.
