The next section in the Content Engine that we'll discuss is Exams.

To create an exam, we'll look for the Create button here on the top right, and from here you have the option to either create one from scratch or clone an existing one. Cloning an existing one allows you to take an already existing exam and edit it, so you could either add or remove questions.

Creating one from scratch gives you the ability to create a brand-new exam using questions that already exist in a platform. Both ways have very similar steps, so let's create one from scratch to give you an idea. We'll call this test something like ”My Custom Azure Test” and add a description - which is required. And now we have the ability to put it in a library. Since we created a custom library, I'll go ahead and look for that and put it in the custom library.

Now we have the ability to toggle how much time will give our learners to complete the test, so I'll set this to 20 minutes.

We also have the ability to show explanations with this toggle switch here, and I'll leave that to yes.

We then have the ability to set the number of questions for the exam. So, note that the maximum amount of questions is 100 and the minimum is 5. I'll set it to the minimum for this example, so I'll set it to 5, and then we can set what the minimum passing score for the exam is. The default is set to 60%, so let's make it a little harder and put it to something like 70.

The advanced settings allow you to set things like topic areas for the exam and the percentage of questions for the topic.

The scoring system affects the user skilled profile scores. So, say if you currently have a score of 400 for a topic like storage for AWS. If the test is set on Easy, you get a point for answering a question right and no point deduction for answering a question wrong. Medium means you get two points for answering a question right and one point deduction for answering a question wrong. And Hard means you get one point for answering a question right and one point deduction for answering a question wrong. We'll just leave it at Easy. And from here, we could click on Next.

From here, you can select all the available questions. Now you could either search for a keyword or use the filter option here. But since we're doing an Azure test, I'm just going to type in “Azure” in the search box and add five questions with the plus sign button here. And one more. OK, so from here we could click on Save.

Now, the skill objectives will reflect on the learner's skill profile. So, you could remove the sections with the trashcan icon and add ones with the plus sign here on the left-hand panel. But if you're happy, you could just go ahead and click Save.

Now, you can publish it on the-, with the button here on the top right to make it available on the platform. So now it is available. And to delete a test, simply click back to Exams. Click on All Exams. Now the first step to deleting a test requires you to first click on it, then click on Actions and then click on Unpublish. Now that it's unpublished, you can go ahead and click on it again. Click on Actions and set it to Archive. This essentially deletes the test, so if we click back onto it, we'll see that that test is no longer there.
